With over 20 years of owning and running several successful businesses, our founder Kristie Cook has the business experience many authors are lacking. And don’t try to fool yourself or anyone else that your books are a hobby, not a business. As soon as you offer your stories for anything but free, you are initiating a business transaction. Make sure you’re set up right from the beginning to protect yourself and your personal assets and also to ensure you’re taxed appropriately–not too little and not too much. With our business consulting services, we can do as much or as little as you need:
- Give you guidance in establishing your publishing company, including setting it up in your state, obtaining a Federal Employer Identification Number (this precludes you from having to give out your Social Security Number to all those places that will demand a tax number), and walking you through setting up appropriate finance accounts (the IRS hates co-mingling of business and personal funds, so keep them separate!).
- Help you create a business plan that’s actually useful and will keep you on track to achieving your goals.
- Provide direction in developing a marketing strategy and plan.
- Assist you with you the project management of your publishing projects, from creating a publishing plan for each book to ensuring you stay on track, on deadline, and on budget.
